For the life of me I cannot get the realtek audio from the mb to work but no issue with getting sound from nvidia video card which is connected via the supplied dvi to hdmi cable. Despite disabling drivers in device manager and sound for nvidia and making sure that the on board sound is enabled in the bios just a total no go. Now the sound from the nvidia is not bad but it seems to have excess base which makes sound seem muddy at low volumes makes it hard to hear dialogue in games. There does not seem to be a way to adjust this. I am using the onboard speakers on my asus 27" IPS panel which touts having bang and oulfsen ice power whatever that is. I do not see where to adjust the sound through the panel menu.

The graphics card does not have a sound chip . What you have is the onboard sound controlled by the nVidia driver and played through the HDMI link

It may be possible to disable sound in the nVidia driver [ and then the mb sockets might work ] , or just to alter sound settings so its cleared up
This may help [ but I havent read all of it ]

Thanks for the help. That link is not my issue at all. My issue is no matter what I do I cannot get sound through the onboard sound. I have disabled so many things nvidia related and cant get sound through the spdif or whatever its call from the on board sound. Le Sigh.
