Hey guys,So I recently decided to make my long-needed PC upgrade a home build--my first ever. All my parts arrived today and I was incredibly excited.

And now I'm just overwhelmingly frustrated. Aside from a couple of chassis issues, installation was relatively easy. But connecting these cables is beyond frustrating. I get only a green LED light on the motherboard and a red standby on the front of the case (no fans or sound at all). It took me forever to find what appears to be the front panel connections for my Z-170m-Plus, but I'm still not sure.

Please advise me--I don't want this to be remembered as only a source of frustration because I love computers and the prospect of building my own is something I always hoped to do.

I don't understand what you're asking. The motherboard manual should guide you on what connections are needed. Without any details from you, there's not much else we can tell you.

In general, you need electrical connections from the PSU to the motherboard, the CPU, and all storage and graphics devices.

You need control connections from the front panel to connectors on the motherboard for activity, power and USB.

All of these should be detailed on the relevant component manuals.
