Hello community,
I'm new to this forum and to PC gaming in general. I do game on the mac from time to time but it just got to the point where I needed something better. So I searched on craigslist for a cheap local gaming PC (poor college student here). The one that caught my eye was "$1000 PC for only 400! SUPER DEAL". He told me he spent around $1000 to make it a year ago. I talked him down to $350 and this what I got:

CPU: Intel core i7-4770K @ 3.5GHz
RAM: 8GB DDR3
MOBO: MSI Z97 PC Mate
PSU: Some cheap 600W power supply unit
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB (dedicated) 4GB (shared)
Storage: A 50GB SSD (for OS and various apps) and a 1TB HDD (for main storage)
Case: Cpberpowerpc case with a giant fan on the side with a see thru part lit up with blue LEDs, 2 fans on top (one is not working) liquid cooled cpu system, and has 3 gauges on it that measure fan speed, internal temp, and one is a VU meter (none of which seem to be working correctly but I am not 100% sure on it).Oh and the front audio jack has some static when I plug in headphones.

The deal also came with a 24 inch 1080p LED 60Hz monitor by Insignia model # NS-24E730A1.
So what I want to know is, did I get ripped off? Thank you for your expert advice! If I forgot something or said something wrong just let me know.

The question is, why is it so cheap. Did he overclocked it too much? Here how I would calculate it probably

Prices for used or cheapest components from Amazon, without shipping.
CPU: $259.99 - http://is.gd/L5kQDz
RAM: $29.99 - http://is.gd/UOFm65
MOBO: $49.98 - http://is.gd/NmS9AO
PSU: $33.99 - http://is.gd/674mD4
GPU: $129.99 - http://is.gd/S4cpr4
Storage ssd: $32.00 - http://is.gd/EXwWtE
Storage hdd: $19.99 - http://is.gd/c9uv53
Case: $23.00 - http://is.gd/euPomP
= $579
---------
This is the price without monitor. Add following to it and you got a steal.
$120.00 - http://is.gd/WTw9Cs

For the price of the gpu here, you could get a better one. Couldn't find a 50 GB storage. So I searched for 64 GB. I also couldn't find the exact case.

Thank you for replying! I honestly got this PC to play Fallout 4 so hopefully it will run it good. The motherboard has multiple GPU support so if it does not perform well I can probably get another GTX 660.

Wow, thank you for going through the effort to find me all that info, I really appreciate it! I don't know if he did OC, he did lie about some things so even if I asked he would probably just say no. The MOBO btw is a z97 pc mate, I think you linked me to a different one, anyway the prices are not that much different. Even though I am new to PC gaming I already love it alot and I am so glad a community like this exists! Thanks again!
