I have been staring at my screen trying to figure this problem out.

I am looking for a motherboard that will handle a i7-4970k and I have found these two within the price I am willing to spend given that I am under the assumption that motherboards are just as good as the output options they have.

A sale on newegg with a $35 MIR puts the Asus at $59 while the MSI is only $46 on amazon. I don't currently have a need for SLI, but when I might need to upgrade I would like to consider it a possibility over buying a top tier GPU and getting rid of the old one.

The part that makes this really difficult is that I do not know why the Asus has such low reviews. I have found some websites that have been rating it 8+/10 while some customer reviews put it at 3/5 stars.

Can anyone shed some light on this problem by telling me whether I would see any benefit spending the extra $13 on the Asus despite the questionable reviews.

Also, I have heard of some clearance issues from the Asus and I'd like to put a CM Hyper 212 EVO cpu cooler and if you happen to know if that should fit I would appreciate it.

Solution
The Z87-A supports DDR4 (newer technology) so unless you have DDR4 memory it is out of the question.

As for the Hyper 212 EVO that will fit just fine.
