At the moment, I'm trying to decide between a https://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-2983-KR and a https://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-1982-KR as an upgrade from a pair of old GTX 570s.
At first glance, the first card seems to have a modest edge, yet I noticed something when using the comparison tool on Micro Center's website ( http://www.microcenter.com/endeca/CompareV2.aspx?returnUrl=L3NlYXJjaC9zZWFyY2hfcmVzdWx0cy5hc3B4P049NDI5NDk2NjkzNyA0Mjk0ODY2MzY1IDQyOTQ4NzU1MTQgNDI5NDk2NTE3MCZwYWdlPTE%3D )
The second card is listed as supporting shader model 5.1, whereas the other 980 is 5.0? Is this an error on Micro Center's end, or is there a story behind this somewhere?
If it is indeed factual, would this mean anything in the long run or is the first card the more solid buy?
