Worth upgrading my Pentium G2030?

I'm trying to upgrade my Lenovo H250 desktop, I've already gotten a dedicated GPU. Most games run fine with my dual core CPU, but I get frequent lag spikes on Grand Theft Auto V. I'm assuming other games like Metal gear solid 5 will also lag because the min. requirements say I need an intel core i5.

I have a small budget, maybe $120-$150, could go higher if I really need to.
And, Would it be WORTH upgrading from Pentium G2030 to i5 or maybe just i3?

Will I see any difference in GTA V?

Current specs:
Intel Pentium G2030
4 GB ddr3 RAM (Soon upgrading to 8)
Nvidia GTX 750 Ti
1TB HDD

*EDIT* This automatically got placed in memory... I think this is the wrong section? I don't know how to change it...

Yes you will see a huge boost. From your current CPU you can ALMOST get a i5 and that would be top of the line for your budget.
Anything lower would be a big upgrade but still not as good as the i5.

If you did get the i3 instead this is the one you would want.

In games i5s perform similar to i7s in a lot of cases so you will not need to upgrade the CPU for years to come. The GPU would be the next thing to upgrade after the RAM and CPU. Probably to something like a GTX 960 or R9 380.

G2030 is Ivy bridge, you would want to get a 3rd gen i5. Not haswell.

GTA V has all kinds of issues Even people with 980 NVidia cards are complaining that the game has lag and errors or wont run correct. Yes updating your cpu will make your pc faster and better for future games but I belive a lot of the issues your having is with the game itself not your pc.

Wait, so I have to upgrade my motherboard or can I just get a 3rd gen CPU?

You can get an 3rd gen intel cpu. I would say using ebay would be the best option to get one.
Pretty much any 3rd gen i5 should be fine. An i3 should be fine as well.
