Hello everyone.

I recently did a clean install of windows 8.1 and i just finished installing all the drivers. After i installed the AMD Chipset Driver which includes USB 3.0 in it my devices plugged in usb 3.0 stopped working, only worked in usb 2 after this driver. Earlier i did the usb 3.0 driver from msi.
All help appreciated! ;-)

It is infuriating that the USB 3 works, and doesn't work at times. I still have to find out if I should boot with the external drives plugged in or not.
But anyhow, for me, if your VIA XHCI drivers don't even show up in device manager, shut down the computer, unplug the power supply, wait enough seconds (this is important), then reboot. Magically, seems to bring the VIA XHCI drivers back. <rolls eyes>

Thanks for the quick reply, i looked through the link, this is related to graphic drivers?

I linked that article because you mentioned that it was only after the AMD graphics drivers were installed that you lost connectivity. You might need to uninstall them. Before you do that though try this:

Re-install your motherboard USB driver pack. You should be able to download it from this site after putting in that you use Win8.1

http://us.msi.com/support/mb/970-GAMING.html#down-driver&Win8%2064

**Make sure you choose 8.1 here and not just 8**

If your USB3 drives still don't work after that:

-Go into Device Manager and look at the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers." Do any of the entries under that tree have a yellow triangle next to them?

-Also in Device Manger look under "Other Devices," do you see any USB entires there?

Nah its alright, it's east to misunderstand ;-)

Anyhow about that other part you said about re-installing the usb 3.0 driver. I have tried that but it said it didnt find the hardware for it to match or something. Where do i look to completely remove it as i couldnt choose to uninstall it in the installer.

Edit: In Windows 8 right-click the start button and look for 'Device Manager.' You can directly uninstall the USB drivers from there.

Look through the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers," and "Other Devices" trees of Device Manager to see if you can pinpoint which drivers aren't functioning correctly, they should have a yellow triangle or symbol next to them.

Well i checked through this USB-Controllers one and here is a picture. I also looked through everything else there as well but everything seems to be working, no yellow triangles.
