Hey guys! So, I just finished building my first PC, and when turned it on, I got the A2 error code through Dr. Debug on my ASRock Extreme6 LGA1150 motherboard. I saw in the manual that it is a problem with the Sata connections, so I disconnected both the Sata Data and Sata Power cables from my HDD and Optical Drive, and reconnected all of them, and got the same error code.

I saw something about that it may be because I have both a HDD and Optical Drive connected, but before I mess with the cables any more, I want to be sure on what I have to do. By the way, everything else on my system seems to be running as it should, with the LEDs and fans in all my parts working.

On my monitor, it's not even recognizing a signal through my VGA cable, so I am really, really confused. All I want to do is get into the BIOS and install windows, so I can finally use this PC I have been working towards for so long.

System Specs:

Intel Core i7 4790k CPU
ASRock Extreme6 LGA1150 Mobo
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
Gigabyte GTX 980
Corsair CX750M PSU
Thermaltake Chaser A31 Snow White Edition Case
Asus Optical Drive
Asus VG248QE Monitor

I really want to get this working, because an investment of this much money is huge to me as a highschooler, and I have been working for 14 months to get the money to make this possible.

Thanks everyone!

Hopefully someone who has some ideas or advice to the A2 error problem will reply soon. My Asrock desktop that I built a little over a year ago is doing the same as your. Powers up but nothing beyond that with the same A2 error. So far I have tried removing the video card with no change, just one memory stick at a time again no change. Tried using the black sata plug in for just the hard drive with no change. Its like its just no seeing the hard drive, both main hard drive and a cloned back up hard drive. I even tested those in a external esata docking station connected to my lap top. Even ran a quick test using Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics and both tested fine. I got a basic psu tester in storage might grab that. So far I`m thinking it could be my psu or mobo that's the problem.

I don't know about the other user but I tried that several times, first by pushing the cmos button when the computer was off and it turned on but nothing, no hard drive activity. I even pulled the mobo battery out for 15 minutes with the same results.
