I tried to update maps on my Nuvi 1390. I downloaded and installed Garmin Express software from Garmin website. Ibought a 16GB microSD card to use with map update. I formatted the microSD using Windows 7 32-bit with default size and file type FAT32. When I tried to update maps Garmin Express asked to insert a 3GB or larger but less than 32GB card. I inserted my 16GB card and Garmin Express only recognized it as 1.83GB and therefore insufficient storage for map.
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

You have about 3 options on what type of format you can lay down on a SD card via windows.

With a memory card of 16Gb, if formatted using Fat 32 but the card and it`s formatted capacity does not read the 14Gb that should show after a Fat32 format try and use the Exfat formatting option instead.

It most likely that the garmin cannot work with the file allocation size set by a Fat 32 formatting of the SD card.
EXFat uses a different file allocation setting so the gar min can map the formatted memory space on the sd card it should then calculate the correct amount of free space on the SD card.
