Hi guys. I'll get straight to the point. Was writing an email and computer has shut down by itself. Turned it on only molex fan spins and hdd moves around. The cpu fans and mobo leds do not turn on , so I wait a bit and no fans move at all not even gpu. The power button led turns on.

So I thought that the mobo might be dead so I remove the gpu. Turn it on , same thing, change ram , same thing, try to reset cmos with screwdriver nothing, switched cmos bats and still nothing.

I took out the cmos bat and i dont know what to do anymore. Is my mobo dead?

Pc specs: MOBO : Gigabyte gaming 5 Z97
Cpu : i5 4690k not oc'd
Ram : hyper x fury 8gb dual slot - lowered voltage to 1.34V from 1.5 because i was only getting 2 frames in W3 - solved
Gpu : gigabyte Gtx970
Psu : corsair cx600
One HDD

Please help. Thank you

I'd suspect the 12v rail in your PSU had failed, first, but it could certainly be the motherboard as well. I'd test the PSU outputs using a meter and if they all test good, replace the motherboard.

Test the PSU, and perhaps at least disconnect the 24pin and 8 pin motherboard power connectors and plug them back in to see if perhaps there was simply a poor connection or one of them wasn't seated well from the start and finally broke it's connection.

I'd also see if I had a spare 4 pin fan to molex adapter around and connect it to the CPU cooler fan to see if that's working. A lot of systems will not power up at all if there is no RPM signal from the CPU fan or there is a problem on the CPU...

If all of that checks out, then I'd RMA the motherboard.
