Two questions today
Question 1:I'm upgrading my Memory and I currently have eight gigs I would like to upgrade. I just bought the ram and want to keep it in my computer. I only have two more ram slots on my motherboard so I want a duel channel kit. The problem I'm having is that I would probably want to add 16gig to my rig but that would make it 24 gigs in my rig. Does a computer need to follow the usual progression of ram such as 4gig, 8gig, 16gig, 32, gig and so on or will having 24gigs of ram not cause problems?
Question 2: If I get a 16gig kit it will be two 8 gig sticks of ram, I currently have two 4gig sticks of ram in my computer. Will having two 4 gig sticks and two 8gig sticks cause duel channel problems?
I have Hyper X Savage 1866 DDR3 memory.

Yes you can run 24GB - the problem you might encounter is that the two sets of DRAM may not want to play together, it's not a good idea to mix sets, no guarantees they will play together, more on this in my article, fiction, item 2, here:

If they do play, put them (from the CPU), 8-4-8-4, that way they will all run in dual channel

Even if you get the same exact model, same capacity, everything there are no guarantees it will work with your old DRAM. You can pull sticks right off the assembly line and they might work together, and then again they might not, as explained in the article referenced above
