Hard Drive Not visible in my computer

I am using WD elements external drive, today morning suddenly my hard drive was not visible on my computer although it is visible in device manager. When I opened Disk Management I saw that my hard drive disk is showing unknown and unallocated. When I tried to initialize it, error is coming I/O device error. Please help as I don't want to loose my data.

test it if you can see it.


put it in a plastic bag and let it sit in the freezer for a few to cool it down.

try to see it on a different computer..... make sure your in a 3.0 blue port.. they should have more energy available...if needed.

I'm really sorry to hear about your issues with the WD Elements external drive! :( I'd strongly recommend you to test it using the brand-specific diagnostic tool - WD's Data LifeGuard! Running the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from the tool will help us determine the health and S.M.A.R.T. status of the HDD.
