Hi guys,

Can someone please confirm or deny that in the UK the Wi-Fi channels 1, 8 and 13 do not overlap?

Thank you :ouch:

Hi

Most sources recommend channels 1, 6 or 11 for 2.4GHz wireless lan G or N
Wireless g is a old standard

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels

http://superuser.com/questions/382042/why-use-wifi-channels-other-than-1-6-or-11

channel 13 may not exist on some equipment

some modern wireless routers can find quiet channels and use them.

software can report signal strength & channel of nearby wireless networks
to enable best channel to be selected

example from nirsoft

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_network_view.html

Thank you so much for the help guys :D

The reason I wanted to check is because on a practice question I'm yet to figure out which are the two true statements, think I found one but the other all seem false, :??:

The radio wave statement I believe is true.. but as for the second :ouch:

This is like most test questions they are written assuming a certain knowledge base. They likely assume that the person answer doesn't know that the rules are very different based on country.

Technically the one one 2.4 have more than half the bandwidth is actually true in some countries using routers that do not support DFS. This of course requires understanding the advanced concept of DFS.

I am going to bet 1,8,13 is not a valid answer even though technically it might be correct. The number you see are 1.6.11 (most for USA) and 1.5.9.13 for countries that allow use of the higher frequencies.

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate your assistance here :)

Madmatt30, yes I thought the same as you, the rest certainly appear incorrect so the only remaining option is the channel option :)
