is upgrading ram on my old hp-dv4 laptop worth it?

my specs of my old hp-dv4 laptop is currenty:

2.3 GHz Intel Core i5-2410M
3 MB L3 cache
4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6750M (1 GB DDR5)

old games run fine but most recent games like mortal kombat x, GTA V lags a lot; unplayable...
I was wondering if upgrading my ram to 8gb would help? I want to play battlefield hardlines and Metal gear V also

Yes, its really cheap and changes your life(not even being sarcastic)

4gb is simply not enough. I had only 4gb myself before and couldnt play bf4, now i have 12gb and its playable at a steady 30 fps

You can get a very good boost but fundamentally i think you'll have to upgrade with another gpu and cpu, so basically a new computer. Ram is basically like a stamina shot, it gives new energy and performance but ultimately youre still using older parts. I think it would extend your pcs usability for up to a year and half tops at least for the games you mentioned

the cpu is actually a I3 to desktop specs. 2 cores hyper threaded... the I5 mobile is a trick.
The only way of knowing if it will help is if your memory is getting maxed but your cpu is still under 100% utilized. That being said 4 GB is kinda low now adays. more standard to go 8 GB now. 6 atleast.

don't worry about ram speed. really is not an issue for intel CPU.s at all.

and the graphics card being 1 GB is kinda low probly aswell for todays standards..


The short answer is it probly could help to up the ram amount.

start/run: type; msconfig and goto start up menu tab then turn off every program you know how to run manually.

ok thx guys. what price do you think it is worth it to get an extra 4gb? does $30 sounds too much... I need to buy via ebay(probably will search for used ones) as I don't live in the US
