I want to enlarge the system partition by adding the 10Gb recovery partition's space, plus the 10Gb Page File E:\ Partition, AND at least 20GB of the adjacent 48GB F:\ Partition (for programs.. er- I mean "Apps") to result in a C:\ of some 80-100 GB, a D:\ Partition of some 40 GB for data, and a Factory_Image Partition of some 10 GB, now at the end of the disk called E:\ still at it’s original 10Gb. Would the System Recovery Application still work as well?
I will attempt to diagram it all in a different way..
I originally got the machine with a setup like this:
C:\ of approx. 150 GB. (System Partition)
D:\ of approx. 10 GB. (Recovery Partition)
I used the onboard Partitioning Feature to change the scenario to this:
C:\ 40.25 GB (Operating System)
E:\ 9.77 GB (Swap)
F:\ 48.83 GB (Programs)
G:\ 40.03 GB (Data)
D:\ 10.17 GB (Factory_Image)
In practice I found that C:\ Partition was constantly plagued by space problems. Some programs must install completely on C:\ Partition, most save to C:\ by default, and I tire of the trouble it takes to change these settings, and too impatient to put up with the distraction. (and I never could decide how to set up the Page File system on Swap). So I think things would work better with a different arrangement:
Do you think it would work with Vista Home Premium? I’ve 3 GB of memory and a HD of 160 GB.Can I accomplish the above with the native Partition Utility? It seems like a lot of flaming hoops to jump through, but I want to install an old version of MS Office and Dragon Naturally Speaking, and I’m weary of the Issues with my System Partition. At present I’ve just over 4 GB of free space on it, which will melt away like snow before the sun. The more I ponder this operation, the more intimidating it seems.
C:\ 80-99.50 GB (system)
D:\ 40.58 GB (data)
E:\ 10.17 GB (Factory_Image)
A nice hefty space for the O.S., say 80-100 GB, through deleting E:\ and F:\ Drives, allowing Windows to deal with the Page File, and reducing the new Data E:\Drive to approx. 41 GB. If any can provide sound advice, I’d be grateful. Thank you.
