Will this build work without any compatibility issues?

I am building a PC, and have got a £500 budget for the PC alone (not the peripherals). Could you please tell me if this build will work, and if not which parts? Could you also recommend some changes I could make, as long as it stays under the £500 mark. Well yeah but if you ask me, spend that extra money to go for an intel platform, probably an i5 4690 along with a decent motherboard. CPU is the least popular upgrade so make a strong choice which will keep you running smoothly for years.

Thanks! One thing, is it worth the extra money to upgrade to the GTX 970?
