Hello dan111,

A suggestion would be to try to install the new card in a different computer.
Does it boot up normal, restart, or show a no display screen?

If you are unable to do so for some reason or another, then try to take it to a local pc repair to test it.

and if none of these options are feasible, then return it where you bought it from, unless its past it return time frame.

From what i read it only crashes when windows starts? So you can get into the bios? Maybe with the old card in remove the current drivers, put the new card in and see if it will boot.If it does install the latest drivers with that one.
For removal can you try DDU.

Use DDU. Run as admin prefereble in failsafe-mode. Try new card again. Check the power-cables.
What PSU do you have exactly? Check the rail amp, that it handles the new card.

The new gpu's power usage shouldn't be a problem since it doesn't require an extra pcie power cable, when the old gpu needs two 6pin connections from the psu.

Only other issue i suspect, next to the driver,is a bios issue. That the gpu just isn't supported by that.

Hmm you have a point, but dan111 didn't specify which GT740 it is i could see reference and GB have one power connector. Im thinking if it's a cheap psu multi rail history each rail could be to weak. But you're right the 275 was allready pretty power-hungry.Twice by my measures. After some driver testing try (if you absolutely know what you're doing) updating bios if possible.

Can you specify what you mean by crashing , please?
Rebooting the computer or Blue Screen?
