My motherboard has the same socket,But I want to make sure that it will work properly. For instance, Does a mother board have a bottleneck? If so what are some CPU's I can work with. The CPU I have right now is a Intel Pentium G3258 @ 3.20 GHz. I have been meaning to upgrade as that my current CPU is meant to be a placeholder.

Here are my specs just because
GTX 960 FTW 4.0 GB
Intel Pentium G3258 3.2 GHz
750W PSU
8 GB DDR3 ram

Hello

A motherboard will not usually bottleneck a CPU in most cases. It might limit the speed at which some components communicate, but in most cases you wont see the difference. Bigger and better motherboards come with extra features for overclockers, faster and more RAM support, different configurations, custom BIOS settings or support for more cards etc etc. So at the end of the day, if the socket is the same, you should not have a problem.

Hope this helps :)

The new CPU will work with your existing motherboard, however, you won't be able to take advantage of the overclocking feature of the i7-4790k without a Z-series motherboard.
