Hi experts,

I'm new here, so hello everyone.
I have:
- Intel's DH55TC motherboard
- 2x 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700 (667 MHz) P/N 99U5471-002.A00LF

Current working setup:
Channel A DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel A DIMM 0 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel B DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 0 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700

Recently, I've purchased (after some research):
2x 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600

Setups I've tried:
(1)
Channel A DIMM 1 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel A DIMM 0 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel B DIMM 1 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 0 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700

(2)
Channel A DIMM 1 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel A DIMM 0 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 1 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 0 - Empty

(3)
Channel A DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel A DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 0 - Empty

(4)
Channel A DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel A DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600

In all new configurations the PC doesn't boot nor connects the display (I've tried VGA and DVI).

What am I doing wrong? Is the new memory incompatible?

Thanks,
- Maxim

Look at your model number and see if it is on this page: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dh55tc/sb/CS-030954.htm#tested. If not, then there's a strong chance it is not compatible. Bear in mind your RAM needs to be non-ECC and unbuffered. Also, I'd refer to your manual as some motherboards are very specific about which slots should be used in which order.
Before you do all that, take the RAM out and make sure you have FULLY seated it (clips at the end of slots click downwards).

My guess is that the new DRAM may be well 'new' - if recently manufactured it will prob be made with high density memory ICs (chips) which aren't compatible with most all the 1156 mobos. Would look for an older model of DRAM like GSkill's Ripjaws line (the original Ripjaws not the x or Z lines which also use high density ICs), or their NT series of value DRAM. Further, there are no guarantees when mixing sets so would get a single set of the full amount you want/need

Thanks for the answers.
I've been in the link you've sent as part of my research. And also here.
This is what I bought, as it was close as possible to that list :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/381314138712

I've definitely checked that they are seated properly.

We have progress.
Did as suggested. Updated BIOS and reset CMOS.
Tried this:
Channel A DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel A DIMM 0- 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Didn't boot.

Tried this:
Channel A DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel A DIMM 0 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Worked!

Suggestions what to try next?

Just tried this and it works too:
Channel A DIMM 1 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel A DIMM 0 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 1 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel B DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600

This proves that all of the slot are valid (since Channel A DIMM 0 worked in the original setup).
Could it be that I cannot use both Hynix-es ?

Apologies OP. Tradesman1, what would you recommend he does now?

OK now I'm totally baffled.
This now works!
Channel A DIMM 1 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel A DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 1 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel B DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600

Just to recap:
All these didn't work:
(1)
Channel A DIMM 1 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel A DIMM 0 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel B DIMM 1 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 0 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700

(2)
Channel A DIMM 1 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel A DIMM 0 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 1 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 0 - Empty

(3)
Channel A DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel A DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 0 - Empty

(4)
Channel A DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel A DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600

(5) after BIOS update and CMOS reset
Channel A DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel A DIMM 0- 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600

All these do work:
(1)
Channel A DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel A DIMM 0 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 1 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600

(2)
Channel A DIMM 1 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel A DIMM 0 - Empty
Channel B DIMM 1 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel B DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600

(3)
Channel A DIMM 1 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel A DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600
Channel B DIMM 1 - 2GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Channel B DIMM 0 - 4GB DDR3 Hynix 1333MHz PC3-10600

Maybe the BIOS update and CMOS reset somehow did help?! However this doesnt explain why the 5th setup I tried failed. :/

It may come down to mixing two different brands of DRAM which is causing your problem. However, if config 3 works then I'd stick with that. But for future reference, don't mix two different brands of DRAM. CMOS and BIOS update probably did help
