Hi all,

I'm building a computer for 3d modeling and graphics work plus some gaming. I have a tiny NYC apartment so I looked for a smaller form factor build and came across this:

https://pcpartpicker.com/b/wMQV3C

I'm looking to pretty much copy that build except I'll get 2 of the 500gb SSD's instead of 1 plus 2 250's. It'll be my first build, but I'm pretty handy so I want to give a go at doing it all myself. Basically I just wanna see if there's any adjustments/additions to the system I should account for before ordering all the parts, and any other tips you guys might have! Especially wondering about cables/cable management stuff since those aren't included on the list.

A couple more things: the guy who did this build wanted to run OSX but I'm gonna be running windows 8, does this change anything? Also, looking at the pictures on the build I'm wondering which way the 2 fans (the first pics show just one but the last ones show he added another) on the CPU cooler are facing? the fan on the back is exhaust while the one on the bottom is intake, so I'm thinking both the internal ones are also exhaust pushing air out the back but wanted to make sure.

This case includes one huge front mounted intake fan = it will feed your cpu with cold air etc, air will be pushed/vacuumed through top and back.
This microATX case is very classy, all wires are hidden, very clean looks just google the case name and you will be amazed.
Decent mobo (not much to pick from), good cpu, classy/slim and good cpu cooler
everything speaks for itself + 1440p monitor and gpu capable of running almost every game in 1440p on ultra high graphics.

This one might make more sense, as it includes intel xeon processor / cheaper alternative to i7 which will benefit in 3d modeling. bit better cpu cooler and a cool mobo. 4 gigs storage instead of ssd.

Hey thanks for the response,

So ruling out the 4T HD cause I want SSD storage only on it, I don't need more than 1tb since I have cloud storage + external HDs. Not sure what advantages that mobo really has for being so much more $$$ than the Z97MX in the original list? The GTX 980 is something to think about, not sure I'll really the upgrade though. And thankfully I already got a decent monitor!

Was really wondering if there are additional parts for the build that aren't on the list, or any issues I might run into and what I can do to get around them, not a whole new parts list. I especially like the case, it's small and would look good on my desk, + the builder says it runs cool now.

Drop HHD, monitor, replace with a clockable CPU. Some say that xeon's are better for 3D modeling, but it's the same, and you can clock it to run faster, your CPU cooler is capable of a decent OC - 4.5 should run smooth.
Mobo was chosen to for quad channel ram, but it might not be beneficial in comparison to the amount of money.

This one is more modern, mainstream skylake CPU, which is the most recent product from Intel, also, it's clockable.
DDR4 ram. Cheaper mobo - fully capable for all features.

All you need is a screwdriver, bolts are included with the case and mobo.
