My friend is updating some of the core components of his gaming system. He is moving from AMD to Intel and is getting a new CPU, Motherboard, PSU, & RAM. He already has all the other components not listed ready.

Wanted to make sure all these components are all compatible and also get any recommendations on any possible better choices:

CPU (i5-4590 3.3GHz) - http://www.microcenter.com/product/432161/Core_i5-4590_33GHz_LGA_1150_Boxed_Processor

Motherboard (ASUS Z97-E LGA) - http://www.microcenter.com/product/446625/Z97-E_LGA_1150_ATX_Intel_Motherboard

RAM (G.SKILL TridentX Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231587

PSU (Corsair CX Series CX750) - http://www.microcenter.com/product/399158/CX_Series_CX750_750_Watt_ATX_12V_Power_Supply

Solution
You should be going for skylake CPU:s now unless you can get some super deal from microcenter on the older models.

The choice you have above for the CPU, mobo and ram isn't bad though, but in any case i would change that PSU.

This is what i wouldn't recommend instead.
However if there are price constraints and the above are an excellent combo deal, then just replace the PSU with the one below. ( review for the PSU )

Optionally you can also go for the i5 6600k if you want to overclock and then pickup an aftermarket cooler for it.
