Hey all, I have a Late 2008/early 09 macbook that I am trying to reinstall Osx onto. However, I am running into all kinds of problems (failure to finish booting, verbose mode gives me all kinds of errors, etc) And I thought resetting the NVRAM would help, but I am unable to reset it, as the key combination does not appear to be working. Any ideas on any other way to reset the NVRAM?

Solution
Ignore the idiot.

It's very sensitive to the time you press the key combination. You have to do it after you have powered on but before the grey screen appears. You may need to try a few times to get it right.

Having said that, the symtoms that you describe don't sound like a PRAM problem. What are the error messages you get? My guess would be a hardware problem or disk corruption.

I have tried the key combination to reset PRAM multiple times, but to no avail. And now I don't seem to be able to launch verbose mode either. I have a spare HDD I could pop in to test for disk issues.

Amusing that contributors are more interested in telling the OP that he shouldn't have a Mac than in attempting to answer the question asked.

Pretty indicative of the level of help on these forums nowadays, and the level of knowledge of those offering "help".

So it goes.

Not disk issues. I managed to get a copy of OSX 10.5.8 installed, but I am running into issues when trying to install OSx 10.7.2 It say "there was a problem installing Mac OSx. Please try reinstalling." All the other times I can find this problem on the internet, they fixed it by resetting the PRAM. Which, I still cannot do.
