Hey there,

Currently I got:
PSU: 650W CoolerMaster GTX (bronze)
CPU: fx6300 (no oc)
GPU: Asus HD7950

Planning on replacing my HD7950 with a r9 290x.

I also got 1 big ssd, 2 small hdd's.
Also a budget micro-ATX mobo from Asus. (50 euros, when I bought it 2 years ago).

Will this PSU provide enough power?

Solution
You have enough Watts. However, that is a lower-performance PSU and you are expecting to drive a high-performance computer, like powering a Ferrari with a Lada engine. :( I would want a better PSU (not more powerful, 650W is enough, not more efficient, Bronze efficiency is OK),

What are the disadvantages or problems that could occur when keeping this lower-performance PSU?

Intense use, like gaming, will cause the main capacitors to fail. Lower performance PSUs have lower performance parts which are not designed to handle high stress. It is NOT a terrible PSU, but it is also not one recommended for gaming systems. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

It is a Tier 3 unit and we recommend tiers 1 or 2 for high-performance systems use for gaming or overclocking.
