Hi I was planning to upgrade the cpu of my computer to a 3 ghz prossesser instead of a 2.7 ghz prossesser now when I start it the computer cpu fan would turn on along with all the lights but the screen would stay black then after about 8-10 seconds the computer would turn off an on again this would continue unless I unplugged the power I tried upgrading the bios and resetting the bios and cmos but to no avail. I tried the prossesser on a different computer and it worked fine except the fan was working VERY hard although the prossesser did stay at about room temperature. Plz help I have no idea on what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

It would help to know which motherboard and processor we are talking about, along with the rest of the system specs. It could be that the upgraded processor isn't compatible with your motherboard due to being a higher TDP than what it supports, or if it's an old Core 2 series CPU it might have an FSB that isn't compatible with your board.

Find out what model of motherboard you have, and go to the manufacturer's website and check that board's CPU support list, if the CPU you want to upgrade to isn't on that list, then it's not going to work.
