I've seen people say that 2x8 GB RAM s are to be installed on DIMM a1 and b1 for dual channel, but the guide I received with the Mobo says the recommended way of putting it it would be on a2-b2. Why is this?
(I cannot check whether it works on a1-b1 until I get my PSU delivered :p)

Solution
Most manufacturers have their "recommended" memory configurations. In know that some tend to recommend slots A2 and B2 for two RAM sticks in a four slot board and the reasons are beyond me, most likely not performance based anyway. If it was significant it wouldn't be a "recommendation" and more an instruction. Also using the slots A2/B2 may give you extra clearance for a CPU cooler.
