My newly set up PC shows the HDD @ Bios, Device manager, but just not disk manager. I've tried methods such as running CMD, diskmgmt but the HDD refuses to appear.

I've tried changing the SATA cables ETC and I don't think the problem is not with the cable connection, SATA ports or the HDD.

Hi there Vaylor,

You can start with something simple as just attaching the HDD with different cables to a different SATA port.
In case the issue persists, you need to go to your MOBO's website and update your SATA drivers. If this does not sort the issue out, you may need to attach it to a different system. That way, you will be sure if there is something wrong with your system or the drive itself.

Cheers,

I've tried using different SATA cables and different SATA ports, will try to update SATA drivers once internet access is configured! :)

In case the driver update does not solve the problem, you can try booting up Ubuntu from a flash drive or a CD and see whether the HDD is recognized over there. If it is, just partition and format it, boot up Windows and see whether it is properly recognized.

Hey, now that I've updated the drivers, the HDD still remains undetectable under disk mgmt. I'm pretty sure the HDD is working (Brand new) and thinking about it now, I may have formatted it accidentally during OS installation.. What can I do now?
