IP conflict and no ethernet

I use an ethernet connection and have had no problems with it until today. When I started up my computer it had no connection, then switched to WiFi (despite the fact I unplugged the antennas from the PCI WiFi adapter it still has full connection). My router still shows the LED indicator that I have a powered-on device plugged into it, but my computer fails to detect any ethernet connections. I tried different cables and reinstalling drivers as well as updating my modem/router and rebooting everything. One time (only once) the network panel showed up my ethernet connection but disappeared right after. Just now when I started back up my computer I got an error message saying "Windows has detected an IP address conflict". My network map can't detect any devices anymore, either (it did detect prior to the IP error).
What's the deal?

Sounds like you have 2 devices trying to use the same Ip's.
Is anything statically set? If so you should let dhcp do it's job instead of assigning statics.
You can do a ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew to grab a new ip address (do this from a cmd prompt)

I don't know how to set statics, so haven't done that. I already reset the ipconfig, is there any next step

Leases are typically set to expire after 24 hours. From your windows ip config it shows it'll reset 10/14. The only other way to force it to grab a new ip is to unplug the modem, leave it off (Microsoft recommends 24 hrs which is ridiculous) and let it come back up.

I'd suggest going through your devices 1 by 1 taking them off the network until you find the 2 that are conflicting. Your machine and some other device on your network are trying to use the same IP address causing the conflict. Typically when this happens whatever machine has the ip first will be the one with access and the other gets the confliction message and won't work.

Unplug the playstation > check your pc. If not working go to the next device. Unplug or power down your phone > check your pc.. etc etc. Untill you no longer have the conflict. When you find the conflict then you have the issue of trying to get one of those devices to pull a new ip addy. The ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew should have issued a new ip to your desktop. If it gave you the same ip, try running it in elevated privilege's (administrator mode) and run it again. In the in between time im going to re read your post and see if I missed something that could have caused all of this.

I think the IP conflict error is fixed now, I don't get the dialog anymore. Thank you ^^ I do see the network map now as well, but it shows these switches that I've never seen before and I don't know what they are. Is this a normal thing?

Gateway or in your case the r7000 is your modem, The switch is that's showing up is probably your router. Doesn't look like anything out of the norm.

Did it restore your internet connectivity?

What does that mean, how did it make my router a modem? And I've had internet connection, I just have no access to my ethernet at all :(

edit: I just noticed it only shows this switch when I'm on 5G. Guess I need to look up how it works

I could be wrong on what I said too.. I don't know how your network at home is set up. Just typically the device that talks to the internet will be your modem.

It would go in this order, Interenet > Modem > Router > then if you have a switch or something it would be next in line.

What are you using for internet?
Do you have a separate modem/router or an all in one device?
Do you have any switches, hubs etc in your network?

When you say you have no access to your Ethernet what do you mean here? Are you trying to access files from one device to another... or... Im a bit confused here.

I have no physical switches, but I use a CAT5 cable or a WiFi PCI card to my R7000 router, then it connects over to my SB6121 modem via CAT5, which is connected to the wall via coaxial cable.

I don't know what you're asking when you say what I'm using for internet, but I'm on Cox, if that's what you meant.

My ethernet connection doesn't show up in the network icon panel whatsoever. It did work just two days ago, though.

The netgear18 (non 5g) looks like it's your hardwire connection (and showing connected) but is being overridden by the wireless netgear18-5g connection. Right click the netgear18-5g in the pop up box on the lower right and choose disconnect. This should bump it over to your hardwired connection. This could also be what was causing your ipconflict. You have 2 connection types trying to make contact. Wired and wireless. Hardwired is always best imo, unless of course your using a laptop or something you need mobility with.

The other side of it.. if you want to use only the wifi is just simply unplug the cat5 cable from the back of your desktop your working with and you should see the netgear18 connection go away leaving you with only the netgear18-5g connected.

Edit* This will probably also clean up what you were seeing with the multiple switch's hub etc on your network map. Disable the wifi, see what your network map looks like after that.

Thanks! The icon disappeared for a second and scared me haha But now it's running wired and the netmap is all tidy now :] Is there a way I can prioritize my ethernet so I don't have to disconnect my WiFi? Thank you very much
