hey guys my setup is:
i5 4690k
h100i with sp120x2
gskill rpjaws 4gbx2
plextor ms5 128gb
1tb caviar blue WD HDD
asus maximus vi hero
cm storm trooper
r9 290 tri-x saphire

so i basically thought of two options,
option A: get a MG279Q monitor and keep the r9 290 tri-x
option B: sell the r9 290 tri-x and get a 900series nvidia card and get a XB270HU monitor

i've always wanted to try Nvidia and g-sync tech as proven freesync is not that good compare to gsync. Im just a normal gamer and not an overclock enthusiast. i would like to play AAA title games with Ultra settings 1440p Above 60FPS and im already satisfied. so which choice should i go for? Oh and whats holding me back from option B is that the XB270HU monitor build qualioty isnt that great and the glossy finish, compare to the solid build MG279Q with thin bezeels which looks sweet.
Im not going to get the upcoming PG279Q/XB271HU because that would be ridiculously edxpensive and probably not available til next year in my country.

Alright. People will usually listen to people who can argue both sides on why something is good and bad. Do what you like, say what you like.. But I really hate it when people say things with no facts supporting them...

@OP, Stay with the 290 and your current setup until pascal or new AMD cards. A 290 is plenty powerful for some 1440p as well.

Sorry if this distrubs a mod lol
I would just get Nvidia because I'm 100% bias towards them.
Better drivers, more features, more driver updates, a more stable company. AMD has always had awful driver support, and even with the cost difference, it's not worth waiting 2 - 3 months for a driver release or a new version of Windows to add a few FPS to an under performing card.

The long term outlook on AMD isn't great, they may not be in business in 2-3 years.

ohh. i would prefer the nvidia build too which is option B but the only thing im concerned is that the monitor build XB270HU is not as good as the MG279Q which looks nicer and solid and has thinner and matte bezzels.....

So you are recommending Nvidia because you are biased toward them. Why is that any legitimate reason to recommend Nvidia for another person's build? AMD driver support is not bad, not as good as Nvidia's, but this "bad driver support" is mostly a thing of years ago that people exaggerate upon.

First off, what power supply do you have deathadderboy? For 1440p, I think AMD is the way to go. The R9 390 is a good option and I think you should consider it.

hey i have a x650 seasonic PSU. and i wouldnt want a SLI build.
i could sell off my r9 290 tr-x and get a r9 390. and get the mg279q. but why is that so? compare to option B
reminder: im just a casual gamer not an overclocker enthusiast, i just want to play AAA titles ultra above 60fps and im happy :) do not need 100+FPS

not the 290x but the 290 tri-x. Yeah i was thinking to go for the palit super jetstream 980Ti and pair it with a xb270hu. but that would cost a huge hole in my wallet lol! wondering if its worth it. or i should just go with the freesync mg279q choice..

Because it's better? I'm just biased towards Nvidia. I would never recommend AMD anything, ever.
