What does the NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 Wireless Router actually do?

My internet is really slow as I have a lot of devices connected to our bt home-hub router. I am thinking of buying a NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 Wireless Router from PC world. Before I do can someone explain whether this will actually make my internet faster and if not what it will actually do? + if anyone has had one a review would be nice!

I've had several ASUS RT-N16's over the years and they have always worked great. Support up to 300 mbps wireless data rate (more than enough for you) and runs at around $80.

You could also honestly use something like the ASUS RT-N12/D1 as well. It also supports up to 300 mbps wireless data rates and only costs around $40:

If you can afford it I would suggest going the with the ASUS RT-N16 if you can.

To recommend a good router we need to know what your current ISP bandwith supports to your home, as well as what router you are currently using.

Unless you have gigabit ethernet (fiber), the Nighthawk will probably be overkill for your needs (and you'll be throwing money away).

Read through the review on your device. What X6 does is more of a smart routing and smart connections for the different devices. That really only helps for really fast internet (gigabit) or tons of devices (>25) If your internet is actually slow that won't really help you. What might though is a router with a good QoS to make it seem faster for video etc.
