So im lately playing GTA V on my pc, but there is something that really worries me. There is a maximum memory usage for my GPU which is 2047mb, but when i optimize the game at nvidia geforce experience it goes like 300mb over that limit. So am i pushing my GPU too much by exceding this limit? or its okay?

I got a GTX 960 2GB with 8GB of ram.

It's not damaging in any sense.
It just means your graphics card won't have enough space to store a scenes data in its highspeed GDDR5 memory.
It will have to be loaded into your system RAM for a bit and do some swapping.
Not damaging, but you may notice frame rate drops if the swapping becomes excessive.

It won't damage your card but may affect performance. Though if the GForce experience is optimizing it for you, I would think nVidia has done the hard work.

Also, how are you measuring memory usage? Are you confusing system memory usage with VRAM?

It says how much GPU memory you are using on the settings menu.
