I turned on my computer to get on the internet, and at the bottom was a purple line. After tuning the purple out, the screen had purple specs everywhere and started to have green splotches. I am barely able to read what I typed here. Anyone know how to fix it. I've put cracking open the computer to fix hardware as a last resort.

It may be getting old and needs new monitor capacitors.. If you have a vga/dvi monitor available hook it up to see a difference and confirm if it's worn capacitors... The same results though unlikely would mean a different problem.
