I've been doing this for many many years, as do many on this forum. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

It's ok to install other programs to the large HDD, but some files will still be written to the OS SSD. Also note that any time you have to format the OS Drive, any programs that you installed to the HDD will need to be reinstalled.
