Hello. I'm running a Windows 7 64-bit computer. I have 16GB of memory and recently out of nowhere my RAM usage just spikes up for no reason. It usually goes away after the PC is restarted, but it comes back again randomly. Out of the 16GB that I have, 12-13GB would be displayed as being used. I don't have any programs running that are taking up that much memory that I know of. Also, my browser isn't causing this because I've tried to exit the browser completely, and I'm still using up a very large amount of RAM.

Here is what my task manager looks like:

Help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Stolen from another thread:

Its possibly Windows Update causing the issue. If it has found updates and you haven't installed them, it will keep running in the background. Quick check.... install the smallest update and check you ram usage immediately afterwards. If it still doesnt change, install them all and reboot.

If it drops... there's you ram thief.

There are quite a few optional updates, but only one important one. By "install them all" do you mean all the optional updates? Or just the important one, because there are a lot of optional updates.

So, I've ran two different anti-virus programs, and I had no viruses. I also installed the important update I had for Windows and nothing changed. My PC still rises up to 13GB of RAM usage and slows my PC down and I have no idea why. If someone knows another potential cause, please share.
