Hi, first time PC builder and everything has gone great except that I can't get the GPU detected in device manager.

I've installed the CD that came with the GPU so maybe this is my problem? The auto detect program on AMD won't detect my GPU, nothing is detected in the device manager and I can't install drivers from AMD website. I'm only using the HDMI cable which works for the IO but not the GPU. My bios is set to PCIe 1 by default which is what I have my GPU plugged in to (PCIe x16) and I don't think it is physically possible to plug it in to the second slot because of the SSD

The MSI logo on the GPU is lighting up but the fans don't spin and it is not detected. I have both VGA cables that came with my PSU connected from the PSU to the GPU. I'm using Windows 10, x64

This is my setup

As long as you have an 8-pin connector connected to the 8-pin slot of the gpu and a 6-pin connector connected to the 6-pin slot, it should work.

As for the gpu not...

Hello, make sure you do have plugged in the 6+2 power pin correctly.
After that download catalyst to see if you that detects the gpu.
Also look online for the latest AMD drivers for the 390.
When you still have a working system, you should contact the manufacturer what this problem could be.

Hey, this is a noob question but should I be plugging in the 6+2 in to the 8 pin slot? Because it has an 8 slot and then a 6 slot but I've plugged in VGA 1 in to the 8 and VGA 2 with the 6+2 in to the 6 and the +2 not plugged. Have I messed up? lol

As for the gpu not recognized, here are some things you can try to limit the source of the problem:
1- Try plugging the video cabled (HDMI or w/e) to the gpu, with speakers plugged in your pc, and check if the pc boots.
2- Check if your bios is up to date, as i had problems with my mobo that is different from yours, but updating the bios fixed another problem related to the same gpu.
3- If you have the ressources, time and patience to do it, you should try the graphics card in another computer. This helped me determine that the problem was indeed my pc and not the graphics card itself.
