Hey all,

I would appreciate your feedback on my build which I intend to use for data analysis (large datasets, lots of computations), some video editing and 4k gaming.

I want to land in a sweet spot of noise and performance where possible.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-5960X 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($999.99 @ SuperBiiz)

I want to overclock as much as possible (guessing around 4ghz)

CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GTX 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($129.99 @ Newegg)

should I stay with the stock fans on this one or get new ones (like silent wings or shadow wings) when I want to overclock but also don't want to have an airplane underneath my desk. The reviews I have read so far are not clear on this;

Motherboard: MSI X99A GODLIKE GAMING EATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($549.99 @ Amazon)

call it a crazy investment but I just liked what I read and saw on this motherboard. any better option is welcome. No need to critise killernics as I am aware of the pro's and cons.

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 series 64GB (8 x 8GB) DDR4-2800 Memory ($490.99 @ Newegg)

Storage: Samsung 850 Pro Series 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($219.75 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Samsung 850 Pro Series 1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($435.00 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate 4TB 3.5" 5900RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($149.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate 4TB 3.5" 5900RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($149.99 @ Amazon)

512 GB for OS
1 TB for programs, games, data analysis. Might ask a pcie SSD for important datasets
I would mirror the 4 TB drives (RAID 1) . Have honestly not checked the reliability with hybrid drives so need to do some more research.

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB HYBRID Video Card ($719.99 @ Amazon)

at the moment I am either considering the GTX 980 Ti or the Titan X. Would aim for the hybrid for cooling and noise reasons. Titan X would only be for FP32 computations (as FP64 is not boosted on that card.).
Any point in all this as people assume Nvidia might bring a new 'revolutionary' card in 2016? Just some thoughts on it would be appreciated. This latter point is why I might settle for a 980 GTX ti and then maybe add the new Titan next year.

Case: Corsair 780T ATX Full Tower Case ($179.99 @ B&H)

I like this case as it also has a vent control, plenty of space, good airflow, ...

Other alternatives for me were the corsair Air 540 (I like the look, lots of space (except for 5.1/4 slots) or the Fractal design R5 titanium (for silent housing)
Power Supply: be quiet! DARK POWER PRO 11 950W 80+ Platinum Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($199.00 @ Newegg)
Total: $4224.67
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Thanks in advance for any feedback and thoughts on this.

Game on folks ....

Will make a nice rig, and I'll call it crazy on the mobo, a lot of money for features you aren't going to be using, could go an Asus X99-a or PRo and have all you need - 512 SSD is a waste for just the OS, put the OS and primary apps on it, drop the 1GB SSD and pick up the PCI-E SSD for the databases and analysis. With 64GB you can create a RAM Drive also for DB and analysis work which would be faster than either of the SSDs

CPU: Intel Core i7-5960X 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor

This is a great cpu dude, it will really give you some amazing performance. Especially if you are trying to get deep into editing or if you already are.

CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GTX 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($129.99 @ Newegg)

This will keep your Processor in good shape LAWL I mean I have personally never been into Liquid Cooling but I know the perks of it and the online reviews of this product make it seem like a good buy.

Motherboard: MSI X99A GODLIKE GAMING EATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($549.99 @ Amazon)

This motherboard is amazing but It could be overkill for what you are doing " right now" but if price isn't an issue then by all means buy this because in the future you could use alot of the features that this mobo has to offer.

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 series 64GB (8 x 8GB) DDR4-2800 Memory ($490.99 @ Newegg)

Nothing much to say I mean this is fast and reliable. What more can you ask more from ram ?

Storage: Samsung 850 Pro Series 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($219.75 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Samsung 850 Pro Series 1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($435.00 @ Amazon)

Storage: Seagate 4TB 3.5" 5900RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($149.99 @ Amazon)

I would change the SSD from Samsung to Intel branded ones but that is just personal preference. But just know that the Intel SSD's will work better with the other Intel Hardware but thats just common sense.

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB HYBRID Video Card ($719.99 ) @ Amazon

This card truly delivers in gaming and in editing. If I had the cash I would use this one but I don't right now. I looked at the benchmarks and everything !!!! THIS CARD IS AMAZING. 6gb Should be more than enough to play alot of the current titles but i'm not sure about how much ram 4k gaming takes up.

Case: Corsair 780T ATX Full Tower Case ($179.99 @ B&H)

I have this case right now and have for about a year now and I can tell you that this is the best case for the money. Plus it is huge.

Power Supply: be quiet! DARK POWER PRO 11 950W 80+ Platinum Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($199.00 @ Newegg)

It should work perfectly fine based from the reviews that I read online but try to go for a corsair brand because it is a fact that they are reliable.

Overall bro between me and you THIS BUILD IS THE SHIT

Thanks both for the feedback.

Tried replying earlier but it looks like the PIA (vpn) IP I use, has been banned.

the bottom-line of my feedback was this:

As per Tradesman1's suggestion I will reduce the OS SSD to 256 GB. And I will add a PCIe SSD for the big data etc stuff.

Might even use the PCIe SSD for the OS as well (any concerns with this?).

Does anyone have an opinion about the Titan X or should I better be investing in the GTX 980 ti as I have planned and see what kind of revolutionary new GPU Nvidia cooks up next year?

Any thoughts on the Swiftech H-240x in stead of the corsair H110i gtx?

thanks in advance for all thoughts and feedback!

The WD black drives a slightly more expensive then your seagates, but they are quicker and very reliable. Real workhorse drives. They share a ton of similarities with the WD RE drives(those are the data centre enterprise drives)
