Could you provide us info:
1) What model of laptop
2) RAM you removed
3) RAM you put in
Scout_03 has a good idea, but I think knowing if the RAM is correct for your Laptop is step one.

I agree. I just think that before you troubleshoot a slot you should make sure the part is right for your Laptop or test is flawed.

not charging is another issue and battery at 10 % it is not good to update bios you may have more trouble in this laptop then you think was it working good with the other os ,so solve charger issue first before trying to update bios .
