probably a stupid question haha, but would it be fine to have a old hard drive from my old pc in to a new pc (285gb dont know what kind) with the new 1tb hard drive without having any problems?

Yes, as long as your old drive has the right connections for your new PC (probably SATA) you won't have any problem running them both at the same time.

If the old drive needs Molex power and a different data connection than SATA you'll need to double check to see if your power supply and motherboard support it.
