I want to learn how to set up, manage and use a home network. any good suggestions on where I can go to learn step by step. I have wired and wireless devices. running windows 7 and then we have apple devices too. thanks

Do a web search for "home network setup", read through the resources there. Each will have some things you can use, like sharing, security, wiring, wireless speed optimization, etc... A site like this is OK http://homenetworkadmin.com/how-to-setup-a-home-network/ but there are always additional things that can be added in more detail as you go and set things up.
