[SOLVED] Computer not booting after upgrading RAM

Hello :) I received my new ram (16gb) in the mail today and powered down my computer, unplugged everything and replaced my old ram. New ram clicked into place and locked in nicely, plugged everything in and now my computer will not power up. I thought the ram could be damaged right out of the package so I put my old ram back in and it still isn't booting up. I checked and made sure I didn't accidentally hit the PSU switch to off and it was on. Tried different outlets / power cords and still same issue. Checked to see if I accidentally unplugged any cables and all cables were good. I'm lost lol I searched up the issue I am having before making this post and couldn't find any fixes. Can someone try and help me? Thanks!

Sorry to hear that didn't work. I'm not a PC building wizard by any means, but my go-to if my computer doesn't boot and the reasons not apparent is just jiggle and push all the wires I have connected as sometimes they can come loose. I know you said you checked them but sometimes you can't really see if its just barely unplugged.

I didn't do anything else besides swap out the RAM. I only unplugged the cables that were connected (Power cord, keyboard, mouse etc) I checked inside cables to see if I accidentally unplugged anything and everything was good. :)

Try taking one stick of your old ram and putting it in a slot then try to boot. If it doesn't work move it over a slot. Do that for all the slots. I managed to break a ram slot (not from upgrading the ram but still kinda applicable) and that's how I figured it out.

Strange indeed lol my specs are
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960
CPU: AMD FX 8350 eight core
RAM: 8 gb
PSU: Corsair 750w

Yes I was grounded :)

Check the power switch leads to make sure they did not get disconnected from the motherboard header. Information abut the pins can be found in the motherboard owners manual if you need help identifying them.

Did you unplug the system at the wall before you removed the old ram sticks and placed the new set in of 16Gb total.

If not then what you have done is likely trigger one of the voltage protection circuits of your power supply in your system.

So.

Look on the back of your tower, look at the power supply.
You should see a rocker switch on the PSU.

Flick the rocker switch over to its other state.
Then remove the plug from the wall socket that goes into the PSU of your system, flick the wall socket switch to its off state.
Count about ten seconds.
Put the plug back into the wall, and flick the switch on the wall socket to it`s on position.
Next go back to the power supply unit and flick the rocker switch on it back to its original position or state it was set to.

Press the power button on the tower and it should fire up.
Any sort of short or ground while fitting new hardware or ram modules will in most cases trigger the protection circuits of the PSU in the system. The protection circuits of the Psu may need to be reset by the method above.

You were right Tom. Checked the cables 4 times and noticed one wasn't plugged in all the way lol thank you very much.

I had a problem with my RAM once... I updated my BIOS and on restart my computer crashed... what happened was ... I forgot to set up my RAM inside my BIOS again.. meaning manually entering in the timings.

Did you do that? You should go into BIOS to verify that you have the correct timings and double check the voltage setting.
