Asking about the best option to future proof my rig. Mainly Graphics card but please chime in if you have any advice to offer. My rig is:
Mobo: Asus Maximus V Gene
CPU: i5 3570K @ 4.2 GHz
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz
GPU: EVGA GTX670 2GB Stock clocks
SSD: OCZ Agility 128 GB
HDD: 2TB Seagate
Case: Coolermaster CM Storm
PSU: Corsair G800 800W
Monitor: Asus LCD 1080p 27" 60Hz

I've been looking at the R9 390, GTX 970 or 980 or 980Ti
Which one of these would be my best option.

Hello

I have a very similar build to yours. The GTX 670 is getting a bit slow, but to really see a difference I think you would need to go for the 980 ti, which is very expensive.

Here is a graphics card hierarchy chart: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

They recommend you jump 2 tiers up, which would land you in the 970 range. If you have the money, get an i7 3770k and overclock it and a 980 ti. You can wait on pascal if you want to in hopes that the prices of the cards come down.

Hope this helps :)

Hello,

You build does look pretty solid for the future,
Indeed only your gpu sticks out a bit.
The 980Ti definitly is the best option for futureproof. So if you can affort it.

I am going for 1080p for the next few years still. I haven't even seen a game in 4K or even 1440p so I'm not too bothered and yeah I'd like to max out all my future games at 1080p. I'm a bit of a dabbler I try all the games but what I'm really waiting for is xcom2
