Hello, I just bought a load of stuff for a new pc im building and luckily i stumbled upon this place before i opened the seal on the CX600M i bought to be my power supply. Rest assured that after reading I have decided to return it.

now then, i need a new PSU, but i am confused.

here is a quick rundown of what is in the pc :
i5 4690k on a z97 mobo with a 212 EVO cooler
MSi gtx 970 (just one)
8gb ram

now i am looking at buying the EVGA Supernova 650W G1 Gold (modular) as the price is good on amazon. But is it good enough? I figure i should ask you guys before i go ordering another one. perhaps someone could recommend a decent one for me. I would prefer a semi modular one and something decently priced on amazon. £80 or so

thanks!

EVGA makes great power supplies in the G2/B2/P2/GS series all made by Superflower. The G1/B1 etc are made by a lower end manufacturer and are lacking in quality for it.

PyroRaider's suggestion is a good one, except its not modular or even semi-modular, however if you want to get a gold efficiency PSU, thats modular this is the one you want:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-Supernova-Modular-Power-Supply/dp/B00V5B76LE/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1444913493&sr=1-1&keywords=evga+GS

Or to up the wattage a little to give you some headroom:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-GOLD-Modular-Power-Supply/dp/B0100QRVP0/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1444913531&sr=1-1&keywords=evga+G2

both easily fit in your price range. You really only need the 550w one, however if you ever plan to go SLI you want to get the 650 or higher.

there isn't much difference
a GOLD psu will produce less heat and will reduce electricity bill compared to bronze .

but that's it , all of the 3 are of the highest quality PSU in the market .
