I recently got a new PC (specs will be shown below). Installation gave me no problem except Ubuntu can not connect to the internet. By the way i am very new to linux.

$ lspci -knn |grep -EA2 'Eth|net' output:

0e:00.0 ethernet controller [0200]: Qualcomm Atheros device [1969:e0a1] (rev10)
subsystem: Gigabyte technology Co. , Ltd Device [1458:e000]

I have 2 ethernet ports : Qualcomm Atheros killer E2400
And I have a wifi card: Killer Wireless-AC 1535

Again: I DO NOT HAVE ANY INTERNET ACCESS ON MY DESKTOP

My PC's specifications:

Motherboard: Gigabyte z170x Gaming G1
Graphics: MSI GeForce GTX 980 TI
RAM: 16GB Corsair DDR 4 (2x8 GB)
SSD: Samsung M.2
HDD: Western Digital 1 TB

CPU: Skylake i7-6700K (4Ghz quad-core)
CPU Cooler: Cooler master

Welcome to Linux, it's always an uphill battle.

I'd verify what Network adapter comes with that PC, and see if it's even supported.

You'll need to dig deep into Google to find answers though, Linux is very command line heavy.

I would remove the Wifi card and just work with the NIC, or disable the NIC in the BIOS and just work with the wificard. I wouldn't troubleshoot both at once.

The probelm is i believe the wifi card is built into my motherboard. is that possible?

Yes, if it's mini ITX, that's common.

It's probably a configuration issue with not using one of the NICs, or no IP address is assigned from DHCP. You will really need to Google it though, or try asking in the Ubuntu forums to find what commands you need to look at what, it's not a simple task like in Windows.

It's going to take some learning on your end (like everything in Ubuntu) to get things to work. And don't except this to be the only issue you get, it's a headache.
