Windows Update Issue

For a few days now, my computer has been needing updates and I would shut down in order to complete them as usual. Although after a short time after restarting, my computer would need more updates. Being the same amount of updates, 5. I checked the update history and there are none listed as failed. What I do see though is that some listings are identical for the past few days.

I recently installed a new graphics card and power supply. Although if I remember correctly I did install the 5 updates a couple of times before putting the new parts in. An issue does seem to occur though with the drivers of my graphics card needing to be re-installed sometimes when my computer is rebooted.

Any help with this issue is much appreciated! I've been trying to sort it out for a few days now and I've seem to reduce the amount of times my graphics cards drivers need re-installed. Although my last reboot for updates a short time ago proved to me that the problem is still there.

Try this.

We can purge all existing windows updates and reset it.

Click on start - All programs - Accessories - right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator

then type in net stop wuauserv

It should stop the service. Do no close the window

now go and delete

c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution

Now go back to the Command prompt and type in

net start wuauserv

then close everything. Then click on start - all programs - then Windows update at the top. if not there go to Control Panel and then Windows update. Do a manual update. It may take a while to update since all update history is deleted.

Doesn't seem to have worked. I wiped all the updates and when I went to update, there were only 8 important updates needed. I installed them, 5 of them being the updates that are being reinstalled nonstop. Once I updated them and rebooted my pc, I installed optional updates for my mouse and monitor. Once I rebooted again, the 5 updates were asking to be installed once more. The 5 updates being installed non stop are:

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 x64 (KB3023224)

According to the windows update page, they were published 5/12/2015, I've failed to realize I've installed them a number of times since then. Meanwhile, it seems as though my hard drive space is being eaten up.

Once you get everything worked out, may I suggest you consider the non-popular method of Manual Updates only. I am not pontificating, if disagree, never mind.

The Manual Update school of thought is, no software is bug-free, the updates may not be BETTER than what you had before. This is the school of, your system maybe behind, but is working perfectly. So once in a while when you have time to kill, (1)Save a Checkpoint so you can Go-Back, then (2)Perform your manual updates. Anything wrong, well first you know what caused it, and you are able to Go-Back and wait for the next "stable" release.

YMMV.
