ok so for the past few weeks the internet gets really slow at night between 3-11pm, so i thought it was just the isp being slow, but when i do a speed test i am getting arround 10Mbps down and 2Mbps up (what im paying for) which confused me because it can take 3+ hours the buffer a 20 mins video on yuotube so i whent into the router and whent to network map, then internet usage, to see whats going on, and there is only 1Mbps being used, and thats shared between 4 people. So my questing is what happend to the other 9Mbps??

Undine22,

My sense is that you are getting two concepts a bit mixed up.

Your speed tests show the rate of data transfers. However, your ISP also may be capping or otherwise limiting the amount of data that you can download/upload.

The reason your internet gets slow from 3-11 pm is probably because there is more traffic at that time due to some people working to finish things up and others starting into recreational activities (movies, games, etc.) after getting home from work. Most likely your ISP just cannot handle all that traffic at some path in the service to your area.

And if there are other connection difficulties (bad connections) then a download will take longer as the packets get corrupted, requested again, sent again...

Undine22,

And if there are other connection difficulties (bad connections) then a download will take longer as the packets get corrupted, requested again, sent again until the download completes without any transmission errors.

Trust that that will provide some further understanding for you.
