Just wanting to know cause I've seen a good review of the first one but nothing much on the Core Edition, but I can get the core edition for £260.
Is the core edition as good as the other one?

The core one is the newer (better?) of the two
Check here the difference lies in base clock, boost clock, memory clock, and the cooling
omega core Core clock: 1152 MHz (base) 1304 MHz (boost) Memory Clock: 7010 MHz
omega Core clock: 1102 MHz (base) 1241 MHz (boost) Memory Clock: 7046 MHz
and the omega core use 3 fan while the omega use 2 fan
is that 2 your only option?

do you consider buying the 970 from other manufacturer like asus,msi or gigabyte? or you want us to choose from that two (the zotac)

No I just want a good GPU doesn't really have to be a GTX 970 I just thought it was one of the best for the price, preferably for as cheap as I can aswell. Do you have any suggestions?

the AMD R9 290X 4GB or R9 380 8GB? they'll fit in your budget?

on a higher resolution like 1440p and 4k maybe but on 1080p all 3 cards are equal from what i've seen unless the 970 went past the 3,5 gb mark

I'm only going to be gaming on 1080p for long time to come.

that's my opinion anyway, you may want to wait for other to post their opinion the more the better so you can choose what's best for you
