hello i have a core i5 4690 non K processor and zotac GTX 970 amp extreme core edition and Asus z87-K
so i wanted to know if it's better to get 4790K and sell my i5 4690 and will it make an obvious difference for the preformance with fps in games!! or it doesn't worth it to sell my i5 4690 for an i7 4790K......thanks

Not worth the slight performance gains you might get in a game. It is better to wait and build an entirely new system when you would actually gain something, which currently your CPU is one of the top ones for the mainstream gaming market so you probably have a good 2-3 years before even considering it would be worth it.

Never said better just that upgrading is not worth the cost. The OP already owns a i5 4690. It is not worth spending $300 bucks just to gain a few FPS.

it seems that jimmy's opinion is right thanks all for replying to me :) i will keep my i5 :) it doesn't worth it to spend alot of money for a little performance boost specially if you are in a middle east country :v

I am in this very position. I have the i5-4690 in my PC. A 4790K was delivered today, but I have not broken the seal yet.

The advantages of the 4790K are I think:

slightly higher clock speeds should gain a minimal few fps in games
gaming should be smoother, because the i5 is more prone to low fps spikes caused by background apps. (Which hyperthreading copes with.)
faster booting, file transfer, and general operation.
I think the 4790K will OC even on my H97 board. (BIOS updates were said to allow for this, however am not sure and not confident.)

The negatives are the cost. The fact that a Ryzen system is probably the better choice, even though it will cost considerably more. (New PSU, case RAM, SSD etc.)

Really stuck about what to do. If Intel would drop their pries due to Ryzen competition, it would be easier. Or the fact that it's an old chip now.
