hi guys, im building a system with a skylake CPU a : Intel Core i5 6600K, and its on my MSI Z170A GAMING PRO motherboard, and i bought ram for the pc, 8 gb of it, the ram is Corsair Vengeance LPX - DDR4 - 8 GB : 2 x 4 GB - 3200 MHz. i was normaly going to buy 2400 MHz ram, but then a guy said to me that SKYLAKE CPU's Benefit from higher MHz RAM!, so i got 3200 MHz RAM. i have heard you have to do something in the bios to make the ram run at its rated speed, if someone here can tell me what it is, and where to find it in my motherboards bios that would be really apreciated xD

Solution
DDR 4 ram is the same as DDR 3 Ram in how you set it up in the bios options of your motherboard the MSI Z170A GAMING PRO.

Your DDR 4 8Gb of ram in X2 4Gb memory modules.

Will have Xmp settings for the memory modules.

Simply enable XMP mode in the bios of your motherboard.

And when you go to the memory options in the bios of the motherboard for speed settings of the DDR 4 memory.

You will see two Xmp memory profiles, simply select one of the profiles.

Save the new settings in your bios before you exit it.

And the DDR 4 memory will run at the rated top speed of 3200Mhz.

If you have a uefi bios you may have to select the advanced bios interface menu options to be able to get to the option of enabling the xmp mode of the motherboard...
