Hi guys, just built my first computer and am very new to this, here is the build:

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/fyPrFT

So when i turn on the system which is connected to the monitor, the monitor boots and then says no signal before going black. All fans apart from the graphics card's fans continue to run.

I also noticed that only the standby power LED and the DRAM LED are turned on constantly. The CPU LED turns on during booting and then switches off immediately. The VGA LED and BOOT DEVICE LED dont turn on.

Note the graphics card also boots but fans turn off immediately after booting (im told they turn off when the graphics card is below a certain temperature so no problem there i guess).

Any idea of what I can do to solve the problem? :(

I've tried removing and refitting the RAM as many have suggested on the various videos ive watched but that didnt help (plus the DRAM LED is on so i think thats fine? I placed the two RAM sticks on every 2nd slot as instructed by the manual).

Another question I had was that (sorry very bad description I know) my friend told me the 'CPU 1' cable going from the PSU to the top left of my motherboard (to the left of where the CPU is placed) is normally to power the fan for the CPU? So i dont know if I need this as im using a water cooler but it is plugged in at the moment. The fan connected to the radiator is plugged into a CPU FAN slot, and the object placed ontop of the CPU is plugged into a CPU OPT slot.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I tried booting the computer after removing the graphics card and am still getting the same results with the CPU light booting and then turning off immediately :/ . I've also checked through that list and I believe everything has been connected properly.

Sorry about bumping an old thread, but did you figure out what the issue was? I'm having the exact same issue with the z97 pro gamer.

Yep. So firstly, when the red LED remains on it means the booting process is basically stuck on that section and that there is the problem after shutting down.

So what I found out the issue was is that my RAM sticks were not correctly slotted in all the way. NOTE:- I initially thought I had slotted in the RAM sticks correctly because the clamps actually clicked in and it seemed to have been correctly fitted however, after hiring a technician to come over he showed that I had to wiggle the RAM sticks around and push them even further in.
