Hello all,

This is my current motherboard. I have been using 8GB (4gbx2) of this RAM. This setup has worked fine until today I installed this RAM.

After installing new RAM, a red LED shows near the RAM and PC fails to boot. Fans are spinning, but there's no starting bleep. I have tried reseting the CMOS by moving the reset pin and have confirmed RAM is positioned correctly to no avail.

Am I correct to think that my motherboard should be compatible with this new RAM? I don't know much on the topic but I checked that the new RAM was 1) DDR3 and that my mobo could handle 1866mhz (i presumed it could since my original RAM claimed to be 1866mhz).

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply glamdringfh. So this should be plug and play... disappointing

Is there any other common issues which may cause this?

Does the order of the seating have any significance? Is it worth pressing on this MemOK button?

Yes, this should be plug and play.

Make sure you check your motherboard manual for what seating pairs it prefers (two black or two blue). They shouldn't be installed side by side, but in maching color sockets.

Most common problem people have with this is seating the RAM correctly. I'd try taking them out and putting them back in at least 1 more time.

It also isn't uncommon for RAM to be damaged in-transit. You could try booting with just one sick of the new RAM at a time to see if it is one in particular, though honestly if both don't run on your rig you'll want to send them both back for replacement.

Thanks for your help. I'm going to try installing once more and ensure slots are coloured coded etc. I'll look into a refund if this fails. Thanks again.
