WiFi can't turn on

My laptop doesn't think that it can use WiFi but it worked fine yesterday. Under network adapters it only has "sturdier ar8132 pci-e fast ethernet controller (ndis 6.20)". Also the wifi search turn on button thing (at least I think so, it is it usually does that) won't/can't turn on. Does anyone know what is going on? (I'm not all that good with computers but even my bother and dad doesn't know)

If the wireless adapter isn't shown in Device Manager, and it isn't listed in there as an "unknown device" either (yellow question mark) it usually means that particular device has died. Obviously, Windows can't detect dead devices so that's why it isn't listed in Device Manager.

I may be wrong but my guess is it's an HP or Compaq laptop? They are notorious for failing WiFi adapters.

If the laptop's warranty has expired, the cheapest workaround is to buy a USB wireless adapter.
